Somer Valley Rediscovered are currently working on the creation of a site masterplan for improvements to Staddlestones Park for residents. Following discussions with the project partners and Somer Valley Steering Group members on how the park could be improved, a landscape architect was appointed to create a draft site masterplan based on thei mprovements that were identified and that aligned with the Somer Valley Rediscovered objectives.
A 6-week public consultation took place to engage with the local community on the development and longer-term management of Staddlestones Park, ending on the 22nd July. The plan is for future improvements to increase biodiversity and create a pleasant, welcoming space for everyone to use for their physical and mental wellbeing.
Ideas for improvements to Staddlestones Park include:
- better entrances and paths
- tree planting
- meadow creation
- additional seating
The proposals seek to encourage greater use of the site, make it more accessible for people and retain a natural feel that also encourages wildlife.
A final site masterplan will be created in August, based on feedback, and published on this website.
