Somer Valley Rediscovered
Greenspaces Project
In Autumn 2022 Somer Valley Rediscovered was awarded funding from the West of England Combined Authority’s Green Recovery Fund for a Greenspace project in Radstock, Westfield and Midsomer Norton.
Working in partnership with the three town and parish councils in the area (Radstock Town Council, Westfield Parish Council and Midsomer Norton Town Council), Somer Valley Rediscovered is supporting the development and management of 5 key greenspaces to ensure that they can make genuine contributions to nature recovery, whilst providing and enabling better access to nature for people.
Across all five sites there will be:
- Habitat Restoration: grassland, woodland & wetland / watercourse improvements
- Access and Interpretation improvements including new paths and welcoming entrances
- Volunteer Opportunities including practical conservation tasks and Citizen Science projects
- Free events and activities for local communities
- Green Social Prescribing
