Grassland and Wildflower Survey Training

20 August, 2024 at 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Grassland Surveying training and Nature Watch Volunteering session

Join Somer Valley Rediscovered to learn from knowledgeable ecologists Rupert and Dawn. We’ll learn about identifying wildflowers and grasses in our local green spaces. Together we’ll take a slow-paced walk and use the Rapid Assessment Technique to survey grassland at Haydon Batch.

We’ll have all you need to feel confident in taking part, including clipboards, identification guides and hand lenses.

This event is primarily aimed at volunteers and the local community who have an interest in gaining knowledge and skills to help us improve the biodiversity of local grassland in the Somer Valley.

Suitable for 16 years +, all under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

Please bring:

· A drink/water

· Weather-appropriate clothing

· Strong practical footwear

· Your ID guide and binoculars – if you’d like to!

Don’t hesitate to contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Emma Carlisle, for more information.
