River Detectives – Flood Watch volunteer info & training event

Jacob from Bristol Avon Rivers Trust (BART) will introduce the River Detectives- Flood Watch volunteer role. We’ll share how this citizen science role fits into the wider goals of the Somer Valley Rediscovered Green Spaces project and Bristol Avon Rivers Trust in supporting habitats, river health and the local community.

This informal training will help potential River Detectives-Flood Watch volunteers learn more and to gain confidence in recording observations of our local watercourses. You’ll be introduced to the survey form, helpful training materials and the BART online platform. There will be lots of time for questions.

We’ll be based in the Somer Centre, in Midsomer Norton and we will go for a brief trip to the river in Midsomer Norton Town Park as part of our workshop to share some practical training tips.

Please bring weather appropriate clothing for any time we spend outdoors and wear strong practical footwear.

We will provide tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival at the Somer Centre.

If you have any questions – please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Emma Carlisle, for more information. Email:somervalleyrediscovered@bathnes.gov.uk. Phone: 07974 045172

This information event will be taking place in the Somer Centre, Midsomer Norton Town Park.  Free parking is available in South Road Car Park (BA3 2DB) but please bus, walk, or cycle if possible.
