DESCRIPTION:BOOKING OPENING ON THURSDAY 30th APRIL \nJoin Steve England on a fossil foray on Haydon Batch and learn how the rocks were formed\, the history of coal mining\, and look at the fossils within the rocks. The prehistoric features that tell a fascinating story! \nWe will be meeting at Haydon Que Club at 10:00 am and fossil hunting until 12:30 pm. \nYou must book in advance to attend this session\, it books up fast so don’t miss out! \nThis is a very family friendly event\, but please ensure all children have a parent/guardian with them at all times. \nWhat to Bring? \nYour hammer\, chisel and goggles\, if you have available. DESCRIPTION:BOOKING OPENING ON WEDNESDAY 22nd April \n\n  \n\nJoin us at Wellow Brook Walk on Friday 22nd May for an evening bat walk. \n\n\n\nWe will start at 8:00 pm with a brief talk about bat ecology and conservation and then go for a gentle stroll around the grassed areas and along the river looking and listening out for different bat species. We will use bat detectors to pick up the bat’s echolocations and work out what species we have recorded. We will finish up at 22:00 pm. \nWhat to bring: \n\nSuitable clothing\nSturdy footwear\, we will be walking on a gravel & tarmacked footpath\nWater\nWarm clothing\nTorch\n\nWhat to remember \n\nDuring the walk\, please remain aware of Phoebe (in a high-vis jacket) and the walk leader Steve.\nKeep your family close by and listen out for any direction from the walk leaders.\nWater safety\, keep your family safe as we pass close by to the river.\nIf at any point you wish to leave the walk\, please let a walk leader know.\nFeel free to stop the walk at any time should you need to take a break or see your children.\nBring a torch!\n\nAll under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. \nWe please ask that dogs be left at home. \nParking is available residentially\, but please walk\, cycle\, or bus if possible. \nIn the event of poor weather\, we may need to cancel at short notice\, in which case we will reschedule.

DESCRIPTION:A winter 8-week Tai Chi course for people interested in trying something new! Taking place at the Somer Centre in Midsomer Norton. This course is led by an experienced Tai Chi instructor\, Bruce. \nAll abilities are welcome. \nBruce will be teaching the ‘Ba Men’ (which translates as 8 Gates). This is a short sequence of 8 moves which train the basic principles or energies of Tai Chi. \nThe moves of the Ba Men are fairly easy to learn – at the start\, as one learns the movements the practice is gentle\, opening the joints\, building a more connected body etc but it can also be practised in a way that’s much harder and while one is still moving slowly it provides much more of a workout – so it can be tailored to the needs of those attending without the need to teach different things to different people. \nWe will be meeting at the Somer Centre\, Gullock Tyning\, Midsomer Norton\, Radstock\, BA3 2UH. \nPlease arrive in time for a prompt 10:00 am start. \nThis class is for adults only. \nClass timings; \n10:00am – 11:15am \nClass dates; \n\nTuesday 13th January\nTuesday 20th January\nTuesday 27th January\nTuesday 3rd February\nTuesday 10th February\nTuesday 24th February\nTuesday 3rd March\nTuesday 10th March\n\nPlease book in advance for the course as spaces are limited. SUMMARY:Nature Craft Connection 6 Week Course
DESCRIPTION:A free 6-week course for adults of all ages to explore\, reignite\, and deepen connections to the living world and our relationship with it\, and benefit from the support\, health\, and wellbeing found in this. \nThe course offers easy practices to engage with nature and to learn more about its plants\, animals\, and the land around us through natural land skills\, crafting / creative activities\, mindfulness\, sharing inspirations\, and wandering in nature. The creative practice will include a variety of nature crafts using materials such as willow\, charcoal\, wool\, and wood. \nYou will be guided to be aware of the living world around us\, and how it can support us. There will be a chance to check in where we will be able to share and hear from each other. \nThe course allows people to explore and experience nature according to their relationship with it\, to learn and enjoy it in ways that naturally suit them best. There is no expectation to engage in these activities\, you can see how you feel on the day. \nThe course dates are: \n\nThursday 26th February\n Thursday 5th March\n Thursday 12th March\n Thursday 19th March\n Thursday 26th March\n Thursday 2nd April\n\nThere is a toilet and café on the site. We will be walking down Waterside Valley to set up camp chairs by the river and explore the surroundings. When cold we will have a fire to warm us and heat water for hot drinks. DESCRIPTION:A winter 8-week Tai Chi course for people interested in trying something new! Taking place at the Somer Centre in Midsomer Norton. This course is led by an experienced Tai Chi instructor\, Bruce. \nAll abilities are welcome. \nBruce will be teaching the ‘Ba Men’ (which translates as 8 Gates). This is a short sequence of 8 moves which train the basic principles or energies of Tai Chi. \nThe moves of the Ba Men are fairly easy to learn – at the start\, as one learns the movements the practice is gentle\, opening the joints\, building a more connected body etc but it can also be practised in a way that’s much harder and while one is still moving slowly it provides much more of a workout – so it can be tailored to the needs of those attending without the need to teach different things to different people. \nWe will be meeting at the Somer Centre\, Gullock Tyning\, Midsomer Norton\, Radstock\, BA3 2UH. \nPlease arrive in time for a prompt 10:00 am start. \nThis class is for adults only. \nClass timings; \n10:00am – 11:15am \nClass dates; \n\nTuesday 13th January\nTuesday 20th January\nTuesday 27th January\nTuesday 3rd February\nTuesday 10th February\nTuesday 24th February\nTuesday 3rd March\nTuesday 10th March\n\nPlease book in advance for the course as spaces are limited. SUMMARY:Nature Craft Connection 6 Week Course
DESCRIPTION:A free 6-week course for adults of all ages to explore\, reignite\, and deepen connections to the living world and our relationship with it\, and benefit from the support\, health\, and wellbeing found in this. \nThe course offers easy practices to engage with nature and to learn more about its plants\, animals\, and the land around us through natural land skills\, crafting / creative activities\, mindfulness\, sharing inspirations\, and wandering in nature. The creative practice will include a variety of nature crafts using materials such as willow\, charcoal\, wool\, and wood. \nYou will be guided to be aware of the living world around us\, and how it can support us. There will be a chance to check in where we will be able to share and hear from each other. \nThe course allows people to explore and experience nature according to their relationship with it\, to learn and enjoy it in ways that naturally suit them best. There is no expectation to engage in these activities\, you can see how you feel on the day. \nThe course dates are: \n\nThursday 8th January\nThursday 15th January\nThursday 22nd January\nThursday 29th January\nThursday 5th February\nThursday 12th February\n\nThere is a toilet and café on the site. We will be walking down Waterside Valley to set up camp chairs by the river and explore the surroundings. When cold we will have a fire to warm us and heat water for hot drinks. SUMMARY:Tai Chi 8 Week Course
DESCRIPTION:A winter 8-week Tai Chi course for people interested in trying something new! Taking place at the Somer Centre in Midsomer Norton. This course is led by an experienced Tai Chi instructor\, Bruce. \nAll abilities are welcome. \nBruce will be teaching the ‘Ba Men’ (which translates as 8 Gates). This is a short sequence of 8 moves which train the basic principles or energies of Tai Chi. \nThe moves of the Ba Men are fairly easy to learn – at the start\, as one learns the movements the practice is gentle\, opening the joints\, building a more connected body etc but it can also be practised in a way that’s much harder and while one is still moving slowly it provides much more of a workout – so it can be tailored to the needs of those attending without the need to teach different things to different people. \nWe will be meeting at the Somer Centre\, Gullock Tyning\, Midsomer Norton\, Radstock\, BA3 2UH. \nPlease arrive in time for a prompt 10:00 am start. \nThis class is for adults only. \nClass timings; \n10:00am – 11:15am \nClass dates; \n\nTuesday 13th January\nTuesday 20th January\nTuesday 27th January\nTuesday 3rd February\nTuesday 10th February\nTuesday 24th February\nTuesday 3rd March\nTuesday 10th March\n\nPlease book in advance for the course as spaces are limited.
